Objectivity, Inc. Launches University Initiative Program

The Objectivity University Initiative (OUI) program provides Objectivity, Inc. software (Objectivity/DB), technical support and other special resources to the higher education community. The program's intent is to enable colleges and universities to use Objectivity's cutting-edge OO technology within traditional college courses or research projects, helping them to effectively educate their students with industry-relevant skills.

Mountain View, CA -- November 17, 2003 -- Objectivity Inc., the leader in high performance database engines that manage complex data, real-time applications and very large volumes of data, today announced the Objectivity University Initiative (OUI). This program provides Objectivity software, technical support and other special resources to the higher education community. The program's intent is to enable colleges and universities to use Objectivity's cutting-edge OO technology within traditional college courses or research projects, helping them to effectively educate their students with industry-relevant skills.

Universities and colleges globally are struggling to keep pace with the advancements of object oriented (OO) computing technologies for their Computer Science and Engineering curriculums. Today's college students need to be adequately prepared with the OO skills that their future employers will demand. Many educational establishments are teaching Java as a regular part of their course. Objectivity, Inc. has responded to this need with the OUI program which provides:

One license of each Objectivity product for an unlimited number of classroom users on any number of machines within the context of one University department. A detailed overview of each Objectivity product can be found at the following web link: http://www.objectivity.com/pages/objectivity
One complete set of Objectivity documentation. Documentation is provided in electronic (PDF) format and may be reproduced as needed within the University.
One year of Basic Level Technical Support. This includes all updates and upgrades to both software and documentation. Enhanced support and training options are available for a discounted fee.

Annual OUI Membership Fee is USD $1,000 (or local currency equivalent). Software included in the annual membership fee is shipped after the initial membership application is processed. The software license is renewed each additional membership year thereafter. The C++, Java and object oriented SQL [SQL++] products are all available under the terms of the license. Upgrades and additional platforms are available at no cost and can be ordered at any time by contacting Objectivity using our online form here. To qualify, participants in the OUI must meet the following requirements:

Be an accredited educational institution.
Offer degrees within your department of study.
Offer classes for degree credit.
Use OUI resources to educate students who are enrolled at your institution only.
Limit the use of Objectivity's products to teaching within the context of a classroom environment and non-commercial funded research only.
OUI resources and any applications developed using these resources may not be utilized for externally funded University research projects or distributed for commercial use. When OUI Membership is discontinued, all products must be returned to Objectivity.
