Software Installation Assistance

Objectivity can assist your organization with first-time software installation to ensure the software is installed correctly, efficiently and securely.

Installation Assistance is provided on-site in three phases:

Confirmation and documentation of existing environmental parameters such as operating system and tool versions and networking protocols.
Software installation and verification including building and running a sample application and validating the Objectivity/DB libraries and server process security settings.
Demonstrating operational procedures and tools.

At the completion of this service your organization will have:

The Objectivity consultant will be on site for a period of three days to:

Specifiy a conversion work break down structure.
Identify other Objectivity team members and recommended partners as required.

When done, your organization will have a complete summary of the scope of the conversion effort and an outline of the project plan.

Object Modeling

The object model is one of the most critical aspects of a successful project. This service will guide your organization through the object modeling process to derive a high-level object model for your new or existing system.

Introduction to object modeling including object-oriented system concepts and generic modeling techniques
Discovery session examining and documenting all known data types
Abstraction session to produce an abstract view of the major object classes and main relationships between classes
Usage verification session to validate the object model meets the application requirements and does not break constraints
Defining the probable size, population and life cycle of each object class
Documenting the object model at three levels of abstraction -- from highly-abstract to a detailed model of the major functionality
Defining and reviewing a project plan based on the object model.

High Availability Deployment Review

This service will assist your organization in upgrading an existing Objectivity/DB system to implement Objectivity's High Availability Option.

This Profession Service Package ensures your system is more resilient to process, node, media and network failures and provides flexibility for future modifications. The service consists of the following phases:

High Availability configuration
High Availability basic deployment

At the completion of this service your organization will successfully have installed and deployed Objectivity/High Availability in at least two autonomous partitions on a single network. The overall findings and recommendations will be reported and documented.

Conversion Pilot Program

This comprehensive service converts some or all of an existing ODBMS application to Objectivity/DB.

The Objectivity consultant will be on site for a period of 20 days to conduct the following phases:

Application design review
Database design review
Application conversion
Application documentation
Application testing and tuning
Pilot deployment

At the completion of this service your organization will have:

An application packaging document
Sufficient documentation to allow the application programmers to demonstrate the Objectivity/DB application

A training plan outline for the end user and operations staff

Database System Testing

This service will guide your organization through the test specification and testing phases related to Objectivity/DB.

The Database System Testing Professional Service is implemented in the following phases:

Database test planning

Content Review to follow up on the implementation of the recommendations

SQL++ and ODBC Deployment

This service is designed to help your organization in upgrading an existing Objectivity/DB system so you can implement Objectivity's SQL++ and ODBC options. It consists of the following phases:

Deployment planning.
Setting up the Objectivity ODBC driver.
Verify that the Level 6 compliant application functions correctly via the Objectivity ODBC driver.
Project team review to identify areas that could benefit from additional methods for presenting VIEWs of complex or joined data more efficiently.

Your Objectivity/DB system will then be accessible from standard ODBC compliant tools, such as Microsoft Access�. The overall findings and recommendations will be reported and documented.

Migrating a Legacy Database to Objectivity/DB

This comprehensive service combines the Conversion Review and the Conversion Pilot Program services combined into one cost effective package.

The Objectivity consultant will be on site for a period of four days to:

At the completion of this part of the service your organization will have a complete summary of the scope of the conversion effort and an outline of the project plan. If you decide to go ahead with a conversion pilot program the Objectivity consultant will be on site for a period of 18 days to conduct the following phases:

Object modeling for Objectivity/DB
Application design review
Database design review
Application conversion
Application documentation
Application testing and tuning
Pilot deployment

At the completion of this service your organization will have:

An application packaging document
